2017 OCTOBER 20-22, 2017 – LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA
For the third consecutive year, Twitch – the world’s largest video platform and community for gamers – invited its community of fans, broadcasters, cosplayers and game developers to celebrate “the stories, people and games that make Twitch, Twitch” at TwitchCon 2017.
During the three-day event, attendees had the opportunity to:
- Network with fellow fans, broadcasters and cosplayers.
- Attend educational sessions, workshops and panel discussions.
- Check out and play the latest offerings from top game developers.
- Buy Twitch merchandise at the Official Twitch Merch Store.
- Watch unique Twitch content with the rest of the Twitch community.
- Attend a variety of special events and more.
Twitch has relied on the The Trade Group to manage a variety of activations over the years, and TwitchCon 2017 was no different. TTG also provided design, fabrication, installation and tech support for a number of game developers at the show.
HOW TTG SUPPORTED TWITCH AT TWITCHCON
From live streaming environments to a custom-built Plinko game – TTG pulled out all the stops for Twitch’s activations at TwitchCon. Special attention was paid to Twitch branding and its color palette – purple and white – so attendees could clearly recognize which activations were sponsored by Twitch. Highlights include:
TWITCHCON ESPORTS ARENA , CHARITY MAIN STAGE AND WOW ART EXHIBITION.
TTG designed and managed the installation of the graphics, stages, gaming stations, A/V, seating and lighting for these spaces where the TwitchCon eSports tournaments, panels and workshops took place. TTG also designed the World of Warcraft Community Art Exhibition space behind the Main Stage, where several artists had their creations on display.
TWITCH MERCH AND SATELLITE STORES.
TTG turned to its in-house retail merchandising experts to create a massive Merch Store bursting with Twitch-branded clothing, skateboards, trinkets and more. The space included custom, Twitch-branded cabinetry and retail fixtures placed strategically throughout the space, which included wide aisles to accommodate heavy traffic. Since Twitch merch is always a hot commodity at TwitchCon, a satellite Kiosk Merch Store was also set up across the hall.
CUSTOM BIG BITS PLINKO BOARD.
Twitch loves to bring on the fun and treat fans, so they asked TTG to create a fun game where attendees had the chance to win Twitch Big Bits. The result was a 10-ft high Plinko-style board that TTG designed and fabricated.
TWITCH LIVESTREAM POD.
TTG customized an 8’x8’ OiO from its AirClad® line of portable architectural structures, so broadcasters had a private space to livestream from the event. Custom, Twitch-branded graphics were adhered to the exterior and interior of the OiO.
OTHER TTG DESIGNED AND MANAGED ACTIVATIONS AT TWITCHCON
TTG works closely with top game developers to create exhibits for a number of popular video gaming and eSports events throughout the year. Following are a few clients TTG helped with exhibit design, fabrication, tech and installation at TwitchCon.
H1Z1 – DAYBREAK GAMES ARENA.
TTG managed the conception, design and installation of the H1Z1 sponsored Daybreak Games space in the TwitchCon Arena. The space featured a host of experiential activations and shareable opportunities.
STUDIO WILDCARD – ARK ISLAND EXHIBIT AND VELOCIRAPTOR.
For Studio Wildcard, TTG designed a space jam packed with gaming stations and custom graphics promoting the ARK video game. We also created a popular photo op for fans with a jumbo, 3-D, rideable Velociraptor dinosaur and props.
DIGITAL EXTREMES – WARFRAME EXHIBIT.
DE’s open island exhibit featured plenty of gaming stations for fans to play the latest edition of the Warframe game and large, hanging, fabric graphics. A 3-D Warframe character was hung over the space to grab fans attention.
Massive, black, angled structures surrounded UbiSoft’s space, which featured an enclosed room with several gaming stations set up inside so attendees could give the South Park Fractured but Whole game a spin. Colorful, South Park-themed graphics covered the exterior and interior walls, and comfy, black leather benches were positioned outside.
